Trip itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Day 2: Drive to Baga gazriin chuluu .

Day 3: Drive to Flaming Cliffs.

Day 4: Set off for Yol valley and hiking in the valley

Day 5: Khongor sand dune

Day 6-7: Camel riding days

Day 8: Drive to Artsbogd mountain.

Day 9: Khangai region

Day 10,11,12-Trekking in the 8 lacs valley

Day 13-14: Horse riding in Orkhon valley

Day 15: Kharkhorin-Erdenezuu monastery

Day 16: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Activity : We will travel approximately 200 km on dirt road and 350 km on paved road by a 4×4 vehicle. On days with treks, we will have 4-5 hours of walk, 3-4 hours of horse ride and 3-4 hours of camel ride. Other activities include sightseeing and cultural activities.

Day 1: City tour will take you to the most popular sights in Ulaanbaatar, including Gandan monastery and various interesting museums.

Overnight in a hotel.**

Day 2: Drive to “Baga Gazriin Chuluu”, the picturesque mountain in the Gobi. This is the series of granite rock formations usually compared to lunar scenes by many people.

Stay the night in a tent.B+L+D

Day 3: Leave for “Bayan Zag” (the Rich Saxaul) or “the Flaming Cliffs” is a popular landmark for its charming beauty and is a good point to start exploring mysteries of Gobi. “Bayan Zag” is the place where Roy Chapman found the first dinosaur eggs as well as other fossils and bones which are exhibited in the Natural History Museum of USA.  This place is also famous for its wide diversity of flora and fauna.

Day 4: Arrive in “Yol Valley” or “Vulture’s Gorge” driving across Dalanzadgad, the center of South Gobi province. Hiking in “Yol Valley” for about 1 hour.

Day 5: Drive to Khongor Sand dune, an 800 m high white sand dune surrounded by lush green grass and blue mountains. It is the longest and biggest sand dune in Mongolia stretching 200 km.

Overnight in a nomadic family`s  ger.B+L+D

Days 6 and 7: Spend two days enjoying a camel ride in the sand dune and the oasis of Gobi. Visit a nomad family and learn about their lifestyle.

Overnight in a tent. B+L+D

Day 8 : Drive towards Northeast. See the worshipped Artsbogd mountain where monks come to collect juniper.

Stay the night in a tent. B+L+D

Day 9: Arrive in Khangai region where you will see a totally different landscape presenting majestic mountains, rivers, yaks grazing in the steppe. Visit a yak herder family.

Days 10, 11 and 12: We will load our baggage on yak and start our adventurous 3-day-hiking to the beautiful place called “8 lakes” that is made up of 8 charming freshwater lakes. We will enjoy a walk in beautiful natural scenery of Khangai region.

 Days 13 and 14: Enjoy a horse ride in Orkhon Valley and see the wonderful Orkhon waterfall, formed by the volcanic eruption, falling from the height of 24 meters. You will see the dormant volcano named “Togoo” that was active 2000 years ago from a distance.

Day 15: Leave for Karakorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia. We will see the stone turtle, the protector of the ancient city, visit the Erdene-Zuu monastery and the market place of Karakorum city. Erdene-Zuu monastery (hundred treasures), built in 1586 with the stones delivered from the ruins of the ancient capital Karakorum, by Altai Khaan, was the first and biggest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.

We will stay the night in a ger.B+L+D

Day 16: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy free time. In the evening, we will enjoy a Mongolian cultural concert where contortionists, throat singers, national long songs singers and dancers will be performing.

Day 17: Leave Mongolia.

  • Tourist Ger Camps: The camp is made up of several Gers, furnished with 2-3 beds, a stove and other traditional furniture, and has all modern facilities, including washing blocks with western style toilets and shower rooms, laundry places, restaurant and shopping facilities.   • Tents:  We use tents of Ferrino brand that are easy to put up and take down and most importantly, perfectly suit Mongolia’s extreme weather condition.

  • Meals: A group made up of more than three people will be provided with a professional chef who will be serving a wide variety of Asian, European and Mongolian dishes throughout the trip. You will be served breakfast, lunch accompanied with salad and snack, and hot meal for dinner carefully prepared to suitable the weather and condition in the trip field.

  • Transportation: We choose the transportation from 4×4 Russian vehicles, 4×4 Japanese or Korean vehicles and modern buses. The most suitable transportation for countryside travels is, in most cases, Russian vans. Baggage is sometimes carried on horse, camel and yak carts in relevance to the trip type.
