Khuvsgul province is considered the Switzerland of Mongolia due to its scenery. Snow-capped mountains of KhoridolSaridag Mountain Range, large pristine lakes so fresh you can see the stones underneath, and the lush green forests surrounding it completes the picturesque scene.

Trip itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar.

Day 2: Drive to Amarbayasgalant monastery.

Day 3: Khuvsgul province

Day 4: Murun city

Day 5: Ulaan-uul

Day 6: Tsagaannuursoum

Day 7,8,9: Trekking

Day: Relaxing day

Day 10,11,12: Trekking

Day 13,14: Drive to Murun via Toom village.

Day  15: Fly from  Murun to Ulaanbaatar.

Day 16: Departure

Activity : We will travel approximately 150 км on dirt road. Activities such as trekking, horse riding or camel riding, sightseeing, and cultural visits to Tsaatan families are included.

Tour detail:

Day 1:  An introductory city tour through Ulaanbaatar, where we will visit sites such as Gandan-tegchilen monastery, National Museum of Mongolia where you will learn about the history of Mongolia, and other sites such as Zanabazar fine arts museum will allow you to see the culture of Mongolia.

Day 2: Drive towards Amarbaysgalant monastery. Built in 1727-1736, Amarbayasgalant is famous for its architectural complexity. It was built without any nails, and used only materials provided by the mountains.

Day 3: We will drive past Erdene city, the second biggest city in Mongolia and head towards Bulgan province, famous for its natural landscape as well as historical monuments from the Turkic and Uigar periods. We will visit nomadic families on our way.

Day 4:  Arrive at Murun city. Murun city is the capital of Khuvsgul province, as well as the biggest city in northern Mongolia. We will meet nomadic families and taste traditional food and cuisine.

Day 5: We will drive through the rough terrain of KhoridolSaridag mountain range at an altitude of 3086 m above sea level. We will pass by Ulaan-Uulsoum and arrive at Darkhad Valley. Although difficult to reach, the valley is rich in lakes and rivers natural sites.

Day 6: Arrive at Tsagaannuursoum, which was established for the Tsaatan people who inhabit the area. It is complete with a hospital, secondary school, government house and grocery stores. Due to the difficulty of the terrain, we will put our baggage on horses and visit the Tsaatan.

Days 7-12:  Trekking through the taiga forest. The Tsaatan people change their location based on availability of food and vegetation for their reindeers. It will take approximately 4 days to visit a family and return back. We will spend 2 days with the Tsaatan people, learning about their lifestyle, participating in their daily chores and eating food made from reindeer.

Days 13, 14: Return to Ulaan-Uulsoum. We will visit a Darkhad family and stay the night with the family. The next day, we will drive back to Murun city. We will stay overnight in a tent near Murun city.

Day 15: Fly to Ulaanbaatar city from Murun. In the evening, we will see a Mongolian cultural concert with contortion artists, throat singers, national long songs and dances.

  • Tourist Ger Camps: The camp is made up of several Gers, furnished with 2-3 beds, a stove and other traditional furniture, and has all modern facilities, including washing blocks with western style toilets and shower rooms, laundry places, restaurant and shopping facilities.   • Tents: We use tents of Ferrino brand that are easy to put up and take down and most importantly, perfectly suit Mongolia’s extreme weather condition.

  • Meals: A group made up of more than three people will be provided with a professional chef who will be serving a wide variety of Asian, European and Mongolian dishes throughout the trip. You will be served breakfast, lunch accompanied with salad and snack, and hot meal for dinner carefully prepared to suitable the weather and condition in the trip field.

  • Transportation: We choose the transportation from 4×4 Russian vehicles, 4×4 Japanese or Korean vehicles and modern buses. The most suitable transportation for countryside travels is, in most cases, Russian vans. Baggage is sometimes carried on horse, camel and yak carts in relevance to the trip type.
