Terelj National park offers variety of flora, fauna as well as cultural and natural settings. We will spend 6 days trekking through this beautiful national park, and spend 2 days with a nomad family to learn about their lifestyle, participate in their daily chores and familiarize ourselves with the livestock.

Tour itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Ulaabaatar.City tour.

Day 2: Drive to Terelj .2-3h trekking

Day 3-7: Trekking in the wild nature.

Day 8,9: Discovering nomadic life

Day 10: Drive to terelj and overnight in a tourist camp.

Day 11: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy traditional performance.

Day 12: Departure.

Activity: 4-6 hours of trekking on some days, sightseeing, cultural visits, stay with nomadic family for 2 days to learn about their lifestyle

Tour detail

Day 1: An introductory city tour through Ulaanbaatar, where we will visit sites such as Gandan-tegchilen monastery, National Museum of Mongolia where you will learn about the history of Mongolia, and other sites such as Zanabazar fine arts museum will allow you to see the culture of Mongolia.

Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2: We will drive to Terelj in the morning. Once we get to Terelj, our trek will start. We will walk about 2 -3 hours until we arrive at our campsite near a river. In the evening, we will meet with our horses and local guides. They will also provide us with a horse cart to carry our baggage.

Day 3: Once we have packed our baggage on the horses, we will walk to a nomadic family’s winter shelter. From this, we will learn about the Mongolian housing and how they have adapted to living in harsh climates. We will head north east towards Baruun Bayan River where we will spend the night.

Day 4: We will spend the day learning about nomadic lifestyles. You will be able to learn about how dairy products made, how many dairy products Mongolians make from milk, and how each of them is significant to a healthy lifestyle. You can taste each dairy products and even help make some too. Then we will continue walking through the valley.

Day 5: In the early morning, we will visit Gunj temple which is a temple built by EfuDondovdorj to commemorate the death of his Manchurian wife Amarlangui. Later we will trek through high mountain forests until we reach our campsite.

Day 6: Continue trekking through the nature. You will be able to smell wild flowers growing beneath you. You will hear birds chirping and soaring above you. We will camp next to Dondbayan river at the base of AltanUlgiimountain.

Day 7: We will descend from high mountain taiga belt to forest zone. Here, we will visit nomadic families and learn more about nomadic lifestyles. This will be our last day of trekking. We will meet our cars and drivers and spend the night under the stars.

Days 8, 9: We will spend two days with the nomadic families. You will feel as if you are part of the family from their warm hospitality.

Day 10: Return to Ulaanbaatar city. On our way, we will take a moment to throw rock onto an ovoo. Mongolians use ovoo when travelling as a way to offer thanks to the surrounding nature and the gods and to seek safety when continuing their journeys. Then we will visit the famous Turtle rock, named for its resemblance to a turtle when viewed from a certain angle.

Day 11: In the afternoon, we will arrive back in Ulaanbaatar city. In the evening, we will see a Mongolian cultural concert with contortion artists, throat singers, national long songs and dances.

  • Tourist Ger Camps: The camp is made up of several Gers, furnished with 2-3 beds, a stove and other traditional furniture, and has all modern facilities, including washing blocks with western style toilets and shower rooms, laundry places, restaurant and shopping facilities. As there is no heating system in the Gers, the stoves are used for heating.Click here to see information of hotel
  • Tents: We use tents of Ferrino brand that are easy to put up and take down and most importantly, perfectly suit Mongolia’s extreme weather condition.

  • Meals: A group made up of more than three people will be provided with a professional chef who will be serving a wide variety of Asian, European and Mongolian dishes throughout the trip. You will be served breakfast, lunch accompanied with salad and snack, and hot meal for dinner carefully prepared to suitable the weather and condition in the trip field.

  • Transportation: We choose the transportation from 4×4 Russian vehicles, 4×4 Japanese or Korean vehicles and modern buses. The most suitable transportation for countryside travels is, in most cases, Russian vans. Baggage is sometimes carried on horse, camel and yak carts in relevance to the trip type.
